James Maunder Amazon’s Director of Canada Public Policy
James leads Amazon’s public policy and advocacy efforts for Canada.
He is an executive with over 15 years of experience specializing in policy, corporate and regulatory affairs, and stakeholder engagement in both the public and private sector.
As Amazon’s Director of Canada Public Policy, James leads a national team that works with governments at all levels on policies that make sense in today’s digital economy.
Prior to joining Amazon, James was Vice President, Public Affairs and Communications at Xplornet, a telecommunications company delivering high-speed Internet to over a million rural Canadians.
He has a deep understanding of all levels of government and how they function, having spent over a decade on Parliament Hill in various senior roles, including serving as Chief of Staff to three Cabinet Ministers in four federal departments.
James is a former Member of the Board of the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA). In 2019, he was named by Government of Ontario to an Advisory Panel responsible for overseeing how the province supports families of children with special needs.
James was twice named one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful and Influential People in Government and Politics by the Hill Times, and has appeared as a national spokesperson on television, radio, and print media.
