Gerry De Luca leads Demers Beaulne’s International Tax team since 2005. He is also responsible for matters relating to tax for Demers Beaulne’s participation in the IAPA network (International Association of Practicing Accountants), of which we are a member.
Gerry has over 15 years experience advising both Canadian and foreign public and private companies in the pharmaceutical, manufacturing, telecommunications and energy industries. Over the years he has gained extensive experience by being involved in cases such as mergers and acquisitions, financing and divestiture, as well as due diligence reviews of companies. His clients benefit from his extensive knowledge regarding initial investment structures in Canada and abroad, tax efficient financing, factoring and securitization arrangements, repatriation planning strategies, foreign tax credit planning and cross-border tax audits, tax controversies, compliance and enquiries.
Throughout his career, Gerry was also called on to handle cases of complex corporate reorganizations, related to public and private Canadian companies, with respect to their foreign affiliates. He has also been involved in many cases relating to Canadian taxation, providing advice in developing efficient tax structures, minimization of tax on capital and provisions of real estate assets.
In addition to his practice, Gerry has published numerous articles on international tax and has also taught the subject at HEC Montréal. He has organized or participated in numerous seminars and forums dealing with tax issues affecting domestic and foreign investors. He has also been a guest speaker for the Tax Executives Institute (TEI) and the Association de planification fiscale et financière (APFF).
