REPORT SHOWS NORTH AMERICAN BUSINESS UNITY ON NAFTA

Wednesday, March 21, 2018

A new survey released by banking giant HSBC has found that most businesses in the United States, Canada and Mexico are on the same page when it comes to NAFTA's benefits. Roughly half of the 750 companies surveyed across North America said they felt the pact would have a positive effect on their businesses over the next two years. Only about 9 percent of U.S. businesses had a negative view of NAFTA, which was smaller than the 16 percent in Mexico and 13 percent in Canada that felt the same way.

The survey found that 77 percent of U.S. businesses expected their trade volumes to increase in the next 12 months with Mexico and Canada as the most important markets for expansion. Still, 60 percent of those companies surveyed think that governments are becoming more protective of their domestic businesses. Read the full reports here.
