The annual AmCham 'State of America' breakfast forum debate: Where America is today as a society and the implications for Canada. 

An expert panel discusses the state of American society today with implications for Canadian business, trade and competitiveness. 

A 'bear-pit' discussion among four of Montreal and Canada's leading expert commentators on American affairs - John Parisella, Tom Velk, Donald Cuccioletta and Adam Daifallah. The fifth edition of this annual debate on the economic and political condition of America in the world.

Cost: AmCham members and McGill alumni $39, Non-members $49, Students $15, all plus taxes.

The conference will be held primarily in English with Q&A in both French and English.  A light breakfast will be served.

The Panel:

John Parisella is a well-known business and political figure in Quebec, widely recognized in recent years for his astute and deep knowledge of American politics. Mr. Parisella has been at the centre of Quebec politics in his career as director-general of the Liberal Party of Quebec and Deputy Chief of Staff to the Premier of Quebec. He has been the President and CEO of one of Quebec's leading advertising firms, and in recent years Delegate General of Quebec in New York. He comments widely on American political affairs.

Tom Velk is a Libertarian-leaning American economist and the chair of the North American Studies program at McGill University. He has served as an advisor to the Board of Governors of the American Federal Reserve System and as an advisor to the Joint Economic Committee of the United States Congress. Mr. Velk is a regular contributor to media coverage of economic issues for The Wall Street Journal, the Canadian Forum, The Globe and Mail, Financial Post, Montreal Gazette, Le Devoir, and the CBC.

Donald Cuccioletta is a Professor of Political Science at the Raoul-Dandurand Chair of Strategic and Diplomatic Studies at l'Université du Québec à Montréal. Mr. Cuccioletta is recognized in Quebec and elsewhere in Canada as an expert on American politics, the strategic issues at play in politics in the United States and is a regular commentator on such in the print and electronic media in Canada. He is the author of the 2013 book "Ou vont les États-Unis?"

Adam Daifallah is a co-founder and partner of HATLEY Strategy Advisors, a public affairs and communications consulting firm based in Montreal. Mr. Daifallah is a skilled communicator who interacts with key decision-makers in Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Quebec City and Washington, D.C. He is also an instructor at McGill University's Department of North American Studies, a fellow of the Montreal Economic Institute and a frequent commentator on public affairs in newspapers, on radio and on television.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Tom Creary, Founder and past Chairman of the Quebec Chapter of The American Chamber of Commerce in Canada.
